The Delta Caucus would like to pay tribute to the late, great U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi, a powerful force in the US Senate for decades and a champion for the Delta. Sen. Cochran passed away on May 30, 2019. He spoke to the Delta Caucus on many occasions over the years (he is pictured above speaking to a Caucus event on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC) and his thoughtful, courteous and bipartisan leadership will be sorely missed.

Update on American Land Conservancy's Buck Island Project

Happily, American Land Conservancy signed a Natural Resource Conservation Service conservation easement agreement on the island’s timber last October, and an Arkansas Game & Fish Commission conservation and public access easement for the entire island this April.

ALC still owns fee title to Buck Island and will officially announce the agreements and public use information this October prior to the Helena Blues Festival.

A posting on this website on July 13 stated that ALC was still seeking natural resource agency agreements, but we are happy to report that those agreements are completed, due to the support of many Arkansans.
